 how do I place the cursor in a field when page is displayed?

is there any way to control cursor path? I tried using "tab index" but no
luck.

That takes a tiny bit of javascript on the clientside. Open the page in CCS
and switch to the Events tab of the Properties panel. You need to add an
OnLoad "action" and you will be able to select from the list of pre-defined
actions - one is "Set Focus". It lets you name the control you want to give
focus to when the page loads.
