Hi all,
I'm trying to find a way to make it automatic to update, let say daily, the
value of my exchange rate currency table so I don't have to do it manually
every day.
Is there a way or a package I can use (free would be great) to automatically
populate a mysql table with the corresponding currencies exchange rate? Or
does anybody knows a service taht does that?
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Jean-François

Hi Jean-François,
there are some solutions - take a look at oanda.com, they provide simple
a CSV-file (http://www.oanda.com/channels/business/FXCSV.shtml) you can
daily import to your db... but it cost 200$/month
If you are firm with xml, you can also use their FXML - XML-interface to
FXP (http://www.oanda.com/products/fxml/index.shtml). You need to
register and I didnt find any information about the costs... but it may
even be more expensive (
If you are firm with perl, you can use
Finance::Quote and
Finance::Currency::Convert
to connect to the yahoo (and some others) exchange rates - for free! You
can get a nice perlscript for your updates here: ftp://www.linux-magazin.de/pub/listings/magazin/2002/01/Perl/ccon/
and some more informations about it here (sorry, its german): http://www.linux-magazin.de/Artikel/ausgabe/2002/01/Perl/perl.html
hope this helps a bit... regards
Tobias
