Develop in ASP then to PHP?

Just starting with CodeCharge going through the tutorials. Trying to get a
"game plan" on what tools to use. Is it considered a foolish think to
develop the applications initially with an Access DB, using ASP pages on
IIS. Then when the larger data base is complete in mySQL post the project
in PHP running on Apache. Will I run into lots of compatibility problems?
Is it best to start and finish a project with the same standards? Reason
being I have some data bases in Access currently and would prefer not to
convert them to mySQL just yet. But if it will be a pain to convert a CCS
project from ASP to PHP on Apache later on, maybe I need to rethink this.

I know of one person who went this route and it caused problems. I don't
know why, but it had problems. Can't you use Access with PHP? Develop
from the start in PHP and you should be fine when you change the DB later.
Just don't flip between two web server technologies - that's where the
difficulty occurs.

Obviously, any custom code you might write won't convert automatically - you
have to handle all that yourself.

Thanks Don, yes that most likely would make much more sense. The move from
Php & Access on Windows IIS to Php & mySQL on Linux Apache should be
seamless from what you have experienced??? Just a click of a button
(smile!).

DonB suggestion is a good one.
Alternatively download AbriaSofts Abriamerlin package for free, it contains
php mysql and apache for windows platform neeads minimal setup effort and
gives you a standalone platform for development.
I use it on a lap top (in the park ;-)) and when back at the office
everything works for me.

Have fun.

I have also used Abriasoft, and would recommend it. There is also phpTriad,
which is a much smaller install and you don't have to register for it:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/phptriad/

It only includes Apache, PHP and MySQL, however
