Hi folks, The level of user support for this program is quite
outstanding. I see that almost every post is answered. I've also noticed
and read several posts on the mysql db connection problem and followed
all responses to the letter with no luck.

As I need to evaluate and review this product before the free trial runs
out, can someone get me over this hurdle please. Once I sort it out I'll
write a full step-by-step mysql installation for the FAQ.

I have PHPtriad on my windows box and all works perfectly. All the demos
work, but there is a problem uploading the databases using MyPHPadmin
because of a few '#" signs here and there. That's another story.

After reading all I could, I downloaded myODBC and installed it. Mysql
appears under drivers on the windows ODBC data source administrator, but
NOT in CodeCharge's list of available drivers. Thus I am still unable to
access mysql.

Obviously I and others are getting stuck somewhere. Am I expected to
enter the names of ALL my mysql databases under the user DSN tag on the
Windows ODBC data source administrator window or on tag two of
CodeCharges similar database window? It seems that the latter is the
obvious choice, but why doesn't CodeCharge's database driver window
recognize the MYSQL driver when I know it's there?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Please choose in your provider tab "Microsoft OLEDB provider for ODBC
drivers" , then swtich to connection tab ,
and in "Use datasource name" you will see you mysql datasource among others.
What you didn't understand is that in provider tab there are OLE Db
providers , but not odbc drivers and DSNs.

Thanks a million Alexey,

When it comes to drivers, I don't understand anything! I'll give it a
try when I log off. In the meantime, thanks for your quick reply.

I had the same problem, but this didn't help me. When I chose MySQL in the
datasources, and test the connection, it says "Test connection failed
because of an error in initializing providor. [Microsoft][ODBC Driver
Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.

I've installed that MyODBC thing from mysql.com

What else can I do?

My experience is that your ISP must allow ODBC connections, many don't.

Need more info.

I'm guessing that you're working on a server on your own workstation, right?
Is MySQL currently running?
Does the database exist yet?
Is the connection string pointing to the db you're trying to use?
Are you using a connection string?
Have you granted the proper permissions?
