Does anybody know of a good hosting company that uses a unix platform with
perl, php, and ChilliSoft! ASP support?

Thanks,
Steve

Good Afternoon Steve...

Why php AND ASP support? Especially when you consider the fact that PHP4 is
MUCH faster than ASP... I'm starting a new hosting firm myself after going
thhrough hell trying to find something affordable, stable, powerful and
fast... I don't offer Chilisoft or ASP but Perl5, PHP4, MySQL, Real
Audio/Video, SSI, SSH, SSL, Static IP, FTP and Anon FTP, mail server,
mailing list software and a whole bunch more are all there... CodeCharge
users can get a 10% discount, free lifetime (as long as you are hosted with
me) domain name registration and free setup. Drop me an e-mail, or goto
www.conceptech.com/support/index.php and submit a request and I'll get you
rolling... If you already HAVE a domain name I'll transfer it for free and
give you free hosting for as long as your hosting with me...

Scott...

Hi.
We work with www.actionwit.com. The Commercial staff is in Europe, but they
have severs in USA to their american and spanish clients. They make support
in the two languages.
About hosting, I have contracted with them several Action! Fusion accounts
for $17/mo with these features .
20 Mb - 40 POP3 - Unlimited forwarders - Support for ASP, PHP, ColdFusion,
WAP, FrontPage 2000, SSI, Real Media, MS Media....
I love their ALL-LANGUAGE support, and also their 5 Free ODBC/DSN
Connections. ;)

They have options like Oracle, MSQL2000, Webtrends Enterprise and subdomains
for a very low cost. Ask them for the information here:info@actionwit.com

I only can tell you they are perfect for us, because we design in several
languages and we can use the same accounts for any project.

I hope this information will help you.

Ernesto

Scott,

What are you using to base this opinion? Do you have a published benchmark
that supports your statement? If so, I'd like to see it.

Speed isn't everything. ASP provides two features that few people seem to
understand.

The first is the ability to instantiate a huge variety of objects (at least
on Microsoft platforms). And if an object can't be found that meets one's
needs, it can be written in a variety of languages that integrated nicely
within the ASP framework.

But the biggest thing about ASP few people seem to understand is that it is
language agnostic. Microsoft wants the world to use VBScript, but one can
also program ASP in JavaScript, PerlScript, PythonScript, and a variety of
other languages. In fact, ASP can use *any* language, as long as that
language conforms to Microsoft's scripting interfaces.

PHP is fine if all you care about is raw speed, and don't mind learning yet
another language. ASP is best (at least on Microsoft platforms) because it
can use a variety of languages-- probably one you already know-- and because
it allows free access to objects registered on the system.

I'd like to see CodeCharge embrace this and offer ASP code that targets not
just VBScript, but also JavaScript, PerlScript, and PythonScript.
