I have successfully installed PHPTriad on my Win98 system for developing CC
on.

Now I am finding myself having to stop Apache and startup PWS so that I can
study the tutorial files on ASP/Jet/MDB

I believe there must be a better way to go about. Maybe I should forget
Apache and just use PWS/PHP using PHP EasyWindows Installer from
http://php.weblogs.com/easywindows. So that I can have a ASP/PHP/MySQL/MDB
envoirment.

Anyone have any good suggestions? e.g. which is a better?

Thanks. Rgds
Roger

Roger,
by default, http servers are configured to listen to port 80 for incoming
requests. If you want to run two http servers at the same time, you can
configure one to run on port 80 and another to run on a different unused
port, say 91. Depending on the software installed on you machine, you will
have different ports available. Note that ftp uses port 21 while MySQL
listens to port 3306 by default.

If you use a different port, you have to explicity add it to the URL e.g
http://localhost:91

Hi,

unfortunately for W98, there is no other way to use PWS if you want to use
ASP. You can install both server and change one to use another port than 80.
I use PWS for asp, but for the second server, I think Apache is too big for
development purpose. Even if there are "kits" to install Apache/php/Mysql,
personaly I prefer OmniHttp from http://www.omnicron.ca/ . I use it since
several years, it is small, without configurations headaches ,and since
v2.07, it is pre-intalled with php. And unlike PWS, it does not stop
responding after a couple of minutes :-O
If you can use NT4 workstation, you can even use omnihttp with chilisoft
ASP. This configuration is smaller and more usable than PWS for workstation
(again, for development purposes). Unfortunately since v3.4, they canceled
the free developer edition.
