Q1: Can someone please explain how the security works in this product?

Q2: What is this telling me?
Site:
Attribute: Login Page - Attribute is required when Authentication is
selected in Site Security Properties

You need to select the login page on the site properties. You may need to
make a login page. Once you select security...the login page is needed.

The security options are abstract and they are used to protect pages
according to your own rules.
For example, you can assume that the Low security=Student, Medium=Teacher,
High=Administrator.
Than you can specify the security level for each page, and for example make
the administration page accessible only to Admins/High, list of students
accessible to Teachers/Medium, and list of assignments accessible to
Students/Low.

The error you are receiving means that you specified security/authentication
for one of you pages. In such case the visitor will be automatically
redirected to the Login page and CodeCharge needs to know, which of your
pages is the Login page.
You will need to create such a page where you should include the Login form,
then go to the Site Properties, Pages tab, and specify the name of the Login
page you created.

You may also remove the authentication from all your pages, if you don't
want to require the users to login.
