General question about use of WYSIWYG editors

There probably a wealth of knowledge accumulated by this group in how
different HTML/WYSIWYG editors interact with CodeCharge. I'm using
UltraDev4 but only address the DW functions instead of the database oriented
behaviors of UltraDev. My question is whether people would not mind sharing
what they have discovered about tricks, techniques and incompatibilities to
look out for when using the various development programs with CodeCharge.

Has anyone created a web site with this sort of information?
What is your project planning procedure when using CodeCharge with the DW or
CF for example?
What does not work that seems as if it should? And the corollary, what works
that shouldn't?
Are there any setup precautions to consider when configuring a particular
editor for use with CodeCharge generated scripts?
What nifty work arounds or tricks have you discovered for problems you have
encountered?

I know these are open ended questions but it would be nice to get the tips
the real experts here if they would be so generous.

Thanks

Those are good questions. I am working on 2 code-charge sites now, it is a
pretty new program...I am not sure how many completed sites are out there.
PS. I also use UD but for DW only. I have been a big MM Drumbeat user as
well.

This is the 1 and only site I know of right now (CC)

Mine is create the basic functionality with little regard to layout...then
add the look in DW. If there is a site wide Nav bar...I create that first
in DW and then copy the code to CC so it can be added to the header page.

Not sure what you are getting at.

The only 1 I have seen is in DW/UD...change your settings to not reformat
the code. But I have not run into this problem lately so I may be
addressed.

Dive into the events area. There is plenty room to customize stuff.

I too am using DW UD4 and am learning CodeCharge myself. I wish CodeCharge
had more integration with MySQL or database apps for that matter. I have
been playing around with their examples and they have SQL scripts you can
run to seed your database with the tables and fields needed for the example.
I have not seen yet and I'm pretty sure of this that they don't support
generating MySQL scripts for Code you are generating. So if you are
creating a new let's say directory in CC you have to design and setup your
DB first and then you create your directory infrastructure in CC and if your
database is set up correctly things will work. I've only had the trial
version for a couple days now but this is how it seems to work. I read on
their FAQ that they do not generate DB's just the code to interact. I am
looking for a one stop shop solution on something where you would create
your project and when it generates the pages it generates the tables and
fields in your database as well. Or at least creates a .sql script based on
your code that you can run and create your DB based on the code.

But where I use UltraDev is after I've generated the code I just open up the
template HTML files and customize them for my site. And editing the .css
style sheet is really easy to do in UltraDev as well. From what I hear you
don't want to actually edit the code in UltraDev in case you regenerate
pages from CC it will overwrite any custom changes you have done. But
UltraDev is great to follow the php code logic in troubleshooting if you are
having problems because PHP will tell you what file and what line you are
having problems and you can go right to that file and line in UltrDev to see
what the problem is.

Anyway that's my 2 cents,
Sean
