Hello,
Is anyone using Codecharge and Dreamweaver UltraDev 4?
Is there a benefit to having both products?
I need to have a product that can do a complete database driven site.
Codecharge for me is too complexe to add features not supported link frames,
and the ability to draw on a page or use drag and drop objects.
Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Frank,
Most probably you may have to wait till August for CodeCharge version 2.0
Thanks.

Thanks

I don't see the need for you to having both products. If you need design
capabilities, you may use CodeCharge and either DreamWeaver or FrontPage or
GoLive or HomeSite, etc. Or you may solely use Dreamweaver UltraDev.
CodeCharge 1.0 purposely does not have web design capabilities as we tried
to provide the best solution for generating usable code, not for web design,
for which there are many tools on the market already.
CodeCharge 2.0 is the next step where we will include a basic graphical
interface, as well as we plan to make it installable as an add-on for
FrontPage, DreamWeaver, GoLive and potentially HomeSite. That way you will
be able to drag and drop CodeCharge components directly onto a web page
within the above web editors.
We're trying to do this "correctly" so that the generated code and HTML
templates can continue to stay clean, and the generated code can be manually
modified and preserved during subseqent generations.
At this time there is no feature list available for ver. 2.0 as we are still
testing the limits of what can be done.

Thanks for letting me know. I tried Dreamweaver and do not like the code
generated for inserting records. I find it hard to change data in fields
prior to the insert action.
I'm not sure yet if Codecharge can handle developing our complete web site.
Please bear with me as I am new this and am trying to decide on the best
product. I may end up getting both.
Will 1.2 be out before my 30 day trial is up? I think I have 7 days left.

Frank

Hi Frank,
If you need to evaluate further, just install it again.
I had purchased CodeCharge with upgrades for a year.
Thanks.

Im not an owner of either yet but I read both forums :)
I will be using one or the other soon and am considering my options. I do
have a Front Page plug in that I like and use alot and you may want to use
them as a comparison. It is J-Bots at www.websunlimited.com. They allow you
to do alot of javascript by add-ins to FrontPage, they remain editable in FP
as well if you need to change them. This works well for me.
Go for it! I will keep watching.

Don't forget NetObjects....I've been pushing CodeCharge in the NOF NGs and
there are many that would love to use CodeCharge as long as they can drop it
in the NOF gui.

yes , would be good to drop it into NOF , maybe thru the addon components
options somehow.

please consider CC as a real program and don't limit it as an add-on!!!
maybe a CC lite as add-on but certainly i like to see CC as a nice real
program.

I do consider CC as a REAL program , i meant that it could be somehow
intergrated through NOF's component dev kit.
CC has db and code features that are not really available in any other
product that i have used, I would like to see some
sort of built in page/template editor though.

I agree, It would be great to integrate it easier with Netobjects.
I tend to find that netobjects is extremely good for the nice looking front
ends and use other programs such as Codecharge for the big stuff!
I have given a few people help on integrating CC for NOF but am still a
newbie. Shows how good it is!

I would like to add my voice to this growing number of people, who want
NetObjects Fusion integration with CodeCharge. NetObjects is really a cool
stuff, and very user-friendly.
Best regards.
