Hi,

Maybe some of the MySQL users here could be interested is this survey ...

Eddy

===================================================

MySQL is taking a survey of MySQL users. As a bribe to get more
people to fill out the survey, we are giving away three Palm PDAs
and ten autographed MySQL books. Please take about ten minutes to
fill out the web page:

http://www.mysql.com/survey/

MySQL is an Open Source Database Server. Anyone can download
it from our website, use it and pass it along to friends and
associates. This means that we, the core developers and others at
MySQL AB, don't really know who is using MySQL and for what.

We need this information to help us develop MySQL to suit future
needs. This information will also help us know what services we
may sell to support our development work. You can provide this,
so please help us!

We will give three randomly-chosen persons filling out our survey
a color Palm Pilot IIIc and ten others a copy of Paul DuBois'
best-selling MySQL book, autographed by Michael "Monty" Widenius
and the rest of the MySQL Development Team.

Winners will be drawn on Monday July 16, 2001. All winners will
be notified personally by email.

We really do appreciate your taking the time to do this. If you
know of anyone using MySQL who probably didn't get this message,
you might forward the above URL to them as a favor to us.

Regards,

Matt

Is there a way to keep this useless garbage off this newsgroup and keep the
focus on the tool? My interest as well as many others, I'm certain are here
to get some valuable information regarding CC as well as to help the
developers create a better product.
Thanks for your courtesy.

Lighten up, Francis.

What exactly does this 'tool' that you speak of do? It helps you connect
to databases, and organize and manipulate this information without having
to know spit about the technologies CC uses to do it (CF, PHP, etc). Any
'tool' is only as good as what it works with, and in this case, it's the
database. This survey will 'help us get a better product' by making MySQL
better. I apologize on behalf of Eddy, myself, and anyone else who might
have been interested in this if it offended and caused FUD...

....wouldn't wanna threaten your FrontPage/Ultradev/Access existence...

Sorry to disturb you or the group, I wont happen again.
I just thought that CC, MySQL and other DBs are very close to eachother and
ALL information could be useful for the users and developers from all
parties. Wrong again.

I never met so much hostility before in a newsgroup than in the few days
visiting this one.
My post are garbage. My questions are stupid. I get insulted and threatened
to be banned.
Is that what CC-news is all about, than I can live without it. This can not
be the reason why I bought CC and came here to look for help and
information.
No thanks, I don't need this.
Good-luck.

Eddy,

Personally, I thought your information was both useful and helpful. It
certainly was not off topic since MySQL, etc is all part of the CodeCharge
experience.

Thanks again,

Bob

Same here Bob.

Eddy,

This news group , and the 'very quiet' codecharge yahoo egroup have allways
been mild mannered and helpfull forums , unfortunatly you seem to have had a
bad experience, Scott seems to have become very helpfull since his outburst
to you, and Morris ( correct me if i missed one ) seems to have made his
virgin post to you with his 'useless gargage' post , so at least you have
managed to bring him out of his shell.

take no notice of the few knockers Eddy, there is a lot of knowledge tied up
in the users of the newsgroup.

<snip>

Wasn't Morris's virgin post,

He didn't seem to mind the focus being moved when it was to help him
"building an online articles system for a client.........."
post - Re: create a example field? 25 may 2001

I agree this newsgroup isn't private my biggest enjoyment (apart from using
CC) is reading the posts from others as I find them informative and helpful
with my own problems. In fact as previously posted, I have made a habit of
'cutting & pasting' them to build up my own littel refence system.

Greetings All,

I'd have to agree with Bob and Steve, while I had already recieved a message
from both MySQL and the Java-MySQL newsgroup to fill it out it may not be
common knowledge and I though Eddy's post here was right on track! Yes,
MySQL is directly related to CodeCharge, and I think anyone using both would
want to fill out the survey, I know I have already... So since I've stopped
lurking and started tossing in my two cents worth, I'd have to say Bravo to
Eddy in this regard. Not everyone surfs multiple groups or is signed up
with MySQL directly for imprtant news and information but millions of people
use it...

Scott...
