Setup the portal... database link is fine... If I skip the default page and
go to another page, everythign seems to work fine... but the default page
returns this error.... Ideas?

You probably are using older versions of the Microsoft Data Access Component
drivers. Download and install the latest version from:
http://www.microsoft.com/data/download_260rtm.htm
