I would like to know how I can control the news column on the portal site.
It is located on the right side. It goes way down and I would like to limit
that.

Surely adjusting the Records value (currently set to 20) should do it (News
form properties)?

The news are not generated with CodeCharge. There is JavaScript and a link
to external news source located in the databse.
You can change it by going in the Portal application to Administration ->
News -> Edit
