Thanks for answering - the version I am using is 4.6 and the reason I am
using it to test is that many people who are into Pet Rescue are aol users
(refraining comment) and use earlier versions of Netscape. I cannot ignore
this group of people or tell them to download IE (even tho I surely wish
they would do so!)
The thing is In netscape you can see the logout button, but when you click
it, it goes to that error page I mentioned -
Here is the process - click logout button, white page with message appears
and location bar still reads :
http://vdiva1/4petsNS/UserAdmin.asp (testing on my server) instead of
UserLogin.asp,
when I click the "here" link then goes to :
http://vdiva1/4petsNS/UserLogin.asp?QueryString=&ret_pa...4petsNS%2FAdmin
Menu%2Easp
- I notice there is no "QueryString" on the first - anyway, if anyone can
help, would sure appreciate it. Thanks, Megan

I did some testing using the examples and found out the same error was
generated in the classifieds example but not in the events example. now
here is the thing - I am pretty sure I might have regenerated the
classifieds example using the new beta , but did not do this on the events
example - there is a difference in the security/login code in the common.asp
between the two -
can someone who understands the code look at these two and help me find a
solution?
from classifeds & my project code (logout does not work) is like this:
function CheckSecurity(iLevel)
if Session("UserID") = "" then
cn.Close
Set cn = Nothing
response.redirect("Login.asp?QueryString=" &
toURL(request.serverVariables("QUERY_STRING")) & "&ret_page=" &
toURL(request.serverVariables("SCRIPT_NAME")))
else
if CLng(Session("UserRights")) < CLng(iLevel) then
cn.Close
Set cn = Nothing
response.redirect("Login.asp?QueryString=" &
toURL(request.serverVariables("QUERY_STRING")) & "&ret_page=" &
toURL(request.serverVariables("SCRIPT_NAME")))
end if
End if
end function
and from events example (logout works) code is like this:
function CheckSecurity()
if Session("UserID") = "" then
response.redirect("Login.asp?querystring=" &
toURL(request.serverVariables("QUERY_STRING")) & "&ret_page=" &
toURL(request.serverVariables("SCRIPT_NAME")))
End if
end function
Simply replacing one with the other does not work - generates an error:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01c2'
Wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment: 'CheckSecurity'
/4petsNS/UserAdmin.asp, line 20
so what do I need to change and where??? thanks, Megan

Hello,
Communicator displays this status message page when the redirect URL is
identical to the current URL and there are URL parameters
The recommended work around is to modify the URL prior to redirect so that
the redirect URL is not identical to the current URL.
Open your login Form that is at the page where you try to click "Log out"
button , open "Form properties"/Events/OnLogout event and enter this
code :
sFileName = sFileName & "?quirk=" & Rnd
This will solve your problem.
