Hi all,

Just tying to shortcut a lot of research.
I intend to set up a shopping cart with automated payment.
Tips/advice on which clearing company would be appreciated, especially =
ones to avoid.
UK based.

Hi

We've built a number of bespoke solutions incorporating Worldpay as the
payment gateway.
Integration is easy, with a comprehensive range of options for design
incorporation, good admin interface and flexibility in terms of passing
variables through the payment system, and very reasonable rates, which may
be the most important thing for a client who doesn't have a merchant account
with their own bank.

Hi,

As a Dutch based ltd. I first looked at the USA companies, investigating
rates and so on (comparing it with European based companies). They are low
but only appliccable as an American based company. My bottom line advice is:
look at a domestic company (payment service provider) that supports all
major creditcards. The technical solution they must offer is a link between
shop and provider and a (SSL)link between customer and PSP(direct) (new
technologies will also be transparant in use)
It has the following advantages: You don't take credit card info (the
security 'lies'at the PSP) and a one point contract partner. Be very
carefull in costs. As an example I found a dutch based PSP what costs me a
monthly fee of around 70 euro and a percentage of 2,5 until 4,5% on CC
puchase amount (dependant of CC).There was an initial (starting and testing)
payment of around 500 euro. I did not want to take the chance of something
going wrong and then be dependant of a (foreign and 'far away') company.
