Hello,

I installed IIS 5.1 local web server on my Windows XP pro and ran the home
site http://localhost/ , it worked fine. Then I published the "Bookstore"
example from CodeCharge to "inetpub/wwwroot" to access it through my local
web server, opened IE window and typed the address
http://localhost/Bookstore the browser kept cranking and nothing happened.

Any ideas why is that happening and how to solve it?

Thanks

Have you set your IP Address to something local; like 127.0.0.1?

Thanks.

Here are two scenarios:

In "Default Web Site Properties" of IIS, the website tab, Web site
identification is set to (All Unassigned). I opened an IE window and typed
http://computername/ , two windows opened, the IIS welcome page and another
window showing IIS help page.

I tried to set the web site identification to my DNS name IP address, opened
an IE window and typed http://computername/ , two windows opened, the IIS
welcome page and another window with the message "The page cannot be found"
(supposed to be the IIS help page).

In both cases the Bookstore example didn't run, IE kept cranking forever.

Change the All Unassigned to 127.0.0.1 instead of your IPAddress.

Thanks.

I assigned 127.0.0.1 and now it is asking me for User ID and Password. Also,
my understanding is that 127.0.0.1 is a loopback address and will not allow
me to access the site through my other machine connected to the network.

I will appreciate your feedback

Hi Kahtan,

It is asking you for password because you have not specify to allow
anonymous access. Go to the Directory Security to set the access.

Thanks.

Hello,

I ran into the same problem, sort of. Can you publish those examples using
just ASP 2.0 NOT ASP 2.0 & Templates?

The strange thing is that when I was using the trial version of the software
on XP Pro with the hard drive formatted as FAT, everything ran just fine.
Now that I have purchased the software and put it on a new installation of
XP Pro with the hard drive formatted as NTFS, I have had no end of
trouble...

Let me know,

Thanks

Hello,

Did you manage to get this working? When I had the trial version of the
software, everything seemed to work great. Then I reinstalled Windows XP
and just recently purchased the CodeCharge software. Now, when I use ASP
2.0 & Templates, I get nothing but spin. If I change to just ASP 2.0, this
seems to work fine. However, the template option is something that I do
want to have. I tried sprinkling various response.write's throughout the
code, but IE 5.5 does not seem to be consistently choking at the same
point...

Thanks for your input

Yo,

I am also having a similar problem. I am running Windows XP;
IIS5.1; SQL SERVER 7.0. I have an evaluation copy of Code Charge Studio
1.0.6.0.
I have generated an ASP3.0 with Templates application against my SQL Server
database.
I have published the generated code to a directory within inetpub; other web
directories(work fine).
I have copied an ASP sample program into my Code Charge Studio sample
directory(works fine).
I have looked at both the database connection string and IIS and think that
this problem is related
to the database connection for SQL Server (eventhough the connection TESTS
fine). I believe it
is timing out through the database connection.

I have been reading through the newsgroup and see similar problems but
.....arghhhh... no solutions,
if you are running ACCESS you can check out the KB article at
codecharge.com. Any solutions
would be really, really cool.

thanks,

Have similar problem. Win XP and CCS. Have not fixed yet but think problem
could be related to resolution of local IIS 5.1 web server. To test this go
to IE browser and select File-Work Offline. Then try to call up the
bookstore or portal directory in the browser and page should come up -
showing you that the system is having problems locating your local IIS and
may be searching beyond local machine.

I personally tried the normal loop back 127.0.0.1 but that did not work.
Even bypass proxy settings in browser (set yo your local machine or
127.0.0.1) didn't work. This seemed to work fine for me before XP.

Brian

Hello,

I think that I may have given the wrong impression. I am using CodeCharge
2.0.5, not the studio. However, the commonality of the problem among us is
the fact that we are using XP and IIS 5.1. As I noted, this problem did not
occur when I had XP installed with a FAT drive. After reinstalling XP using
an NTFS drive, ASP 2.0 & Templates does not appear to work.

My suspicion is that maybe one of the Windows XP updates from Microsoft
might have hosed something up. I always ok and download updates when I am
notified (something tells me that this is a bad habit). I guess that there
are two ways to try and troubleshoot this:

* remove all windows updates that I have loaded onto my machine.
* see if anyone else using XP and IIS 5.1 is having this problem.
* see if anyone else using XP and IIS 5.1 is NOT having this problem.

When I have time I may look into the first option...

Thanks for your input though...

Hi Thor,

I am using CC2.05 w/XP on an NTFS drive w/o difficulties. I did have some
problems using a virtual directory outside of InetPub/wwwroot but didn't
really take a lot of time to look into it as I just moved the virtual
directory under wwwroot and haven't had a problem since.
