How to modify 'sWhere' on a per element basis?

Using CC 2.0.5, Postgresql 7.2, PHP 4.1.2 and Apache 1.3.20.

Is it possible to access only certain elements of sWhere?

What I mean by this is that I have a search page, with a whole bunch of
dropdowns and text boxes. When I submit, naturally CC builds an sWhere
clause for me, based on which elements of the search page are populated when
the form is submitted. This is all fine and dandy. Now a few of the text
boxes need to be uppercase'd before the search is actually performed.

Now I've tried using the Close event, to no avail (which leads me to believe
that this is not the place to do it, or that I'm doing it wrong). So, the
question is, is there an easy way to uppercase certain parts of the sWhere
without having to rewrite the whole sWhere statement (cause that'll involve
alot of if's and case's - yuck!)? Is there an array of some some I can play
with that'll modify the sWhere? Am I going about this the wrong way?

Any and all help is appreciated.

You should be able to use the "before close" event of the Search form to
modify your values...
I use ASP and use this feature very often with Search forms...should work
for PHP also...
