I looked at this program before and saw that it had potential, but
documentation for it was next to nill on how one could use it for their
usage.

The examples are great, but none of them show you HOW they were created.
Ie the bookstore example is GREAT. I probably will have a use for it with
some modifications to handle more than just books. BUT it doesn't show you
how you can "checkout". Doesn't show you how the "bookstore" site was
created step-by-step. That's what this program needs. Sure nice to have
working examples, but without showing us how they made that example, the
tutorials and examples are useless

I would love to see how one can use this program to make their own site. I
want to make a dynamic site for a homepage that I have neglected to maintain
for the pass year, and was looking into making it alot easier to do a nice
upate.

So basically, is there some kind of tutorial that we can follow step-by-step
to understand how we can use CC to make a website ? Im still confused on how
to make pages. I can't get past making the styles.

So anyone wanna help a newbie in using this product?

You should just play with the wizards to get started. Overall it's pretty
straightforward (I've made exactly the statement you did, in the past - but
in reference to Microsoft's ASP and .NET).

What I've really liked about CCS is that it makes "throwaway" code easy to
live with. My first project got restarted about 4 times as I began to see
the better ways to do things. I just kept starting over since it was so
easy to generate the screens.

Just play with the "builders" on a blank page. You need a datasource to
connect you to a database, then use a wizard to construct the basic
appearance (search, grid or dataentry forms). Search forms filter the
data you see on Grids. Grids are used to list several database records at
once, and can be made to show "pages" of records instead of an entire table.
Grids let you find records to edit (or view in detail), so these typically
include a "link" column that appears as a hyperlink to a dataentry form,
where you can use textboxes, checkboxes, listboxes, etc. to let you edit the
data or just show one record in greater detail.

CCS separates the appearance (HTML) from the code so once you have a working
form, you can edit the HTML to suit your preference fo how it looks - and
the code keeps on working.

While I generally frown on "just look at the example programs" to learn how
to use a tool (because that does not show you the things NOT to do and does
not usually convey the reason why things were done the way they were) the
ones with CCS are wonderfully non-trivial and still not too complex to
grasp.

So to answer your question "how to get started", I'd say create a project,
add a datasource and just experiment.... And open the examples and try to
change or add functions. Take a look at www.gotocode.com, too.

And, of course, everything I just wrote was assuming Coecharge Studio - I
did not check to see what group I was in. Sorry.
