Generated ASPX not viewable with Visual Studio in Design mode

Hello list members,

After generating code in ASP.NET/C# and trying to open a particular aspx
page of the project to fine tune in Visual Studio, I get a Visual Studio
Message:
"Could Not open in Design view. Place quotes around a '<% %>' block used as
an attribute value or within a <select> element." Should not the generated
pages work seamlesly with Visual Studio?

Any help appreciated!
