I would greatly appreciate some assistance with the TaskManager sample,
through which I'm currently labouring.
When I call up the Task Maintenance screen and attempt to add a task (using
the George/george login), IE comes back with an error: "You cannot add or
change a record because a related record is required in table 'employees'.
(Microsoft JET Database Engine)".
This is a little confusing - my impression was that the sample had already
been set up correctly. Or is there an error on my side? I'm using Microsoft
Access 2000 with ASP 3 pages.
I also encountered an error in step 1 (programatically displaying a field's
properties). When I add the code, IE generates an error stating
Error Type:
Microsoft VBScript runtime (0x800A01B6)
Object doesn't support this property or method: 'tasks.user_id_assign_to'
/taskmanager/tasks_list_events.asp, line 13
Line 13 states:
If tasks.user_id_assign_to.Value = Session("UserLogin") Then
Any guidance or advice would be gratefully accepted.
Regards
Juergen

OK, it seems I was getting ahead of myself on the DB error. That problem has
been resolved in Step 3. However, I am still struggling with the VBScript
runtime error. Microsoft's site suggests it's by design, but surely the
sample would not have been set up with incorrect parameters. I certainly
haven't seen anyone else describing the problem I encountered.

You probably have the code in the wrong event handler. If not, there
probably is a name not spelled quite right. Be sure the code is in the
Before Show Row event (and not the Before Show event). Also, check to see
that the grid is actually named "tasks" and that the label is actually named
"user_id_assign_to".
