I found this code in the archive site, but cannont get it to work for opening the outside links in a new window. I might be just missing a space or qoute or something. Could someone help me where I might be wrong in the code?
fld_zomename = "<a href = '"&fld_zomeurl&"' target = ""_blank"">"&fld_zomename&"</a>"

Works OK for me. Using your code I created a link that opens in a new window.

In the field properties for that object, make sure that HTML is checked.

Add this in the before show event and it works:
fldurlfield_URLLink = fldurlfield_URLLink&""" target=""_blank"
