i was wondering if anyone has done this already or has any links, suggestions etc.

What I'm looking for is an expanding grid to show further detail on a record:

---------------------------------------------------
| + detail | name | surname | telephone|
---------------------------------------------------
| + detail | name | surname | telephone|
---------------------------------------------------
| + detail | name | surname | telephone|
---------------------------------------------------
Clicking on the detail link or button will produce the rest of the record beneath

---------------------------------------------------
| - less | name | surname | telephone|
---------------------------------------------------
| fax | e-mail | address | comments | etc. |
--------------------------------------------------------
| + detail | name | surname | telephone|
---------------------------------------------------
| + detail | name | surname | telephone|
---------------------------------------------------

Basically expanding and colloasping a record in a grid...

Take a look at how we expand the "Upgrades" section on our purchasing page, at http://www.codecharge.com/purchase/
When you click on any of the upgrade prices, you will see that a new section opens up / expands.
I personally don't work with JavaScript and cannot explain exactly how this works, but searching the HTML source for "upgr_sec" pretty much reveals the details.

If you want to do it without refreshing page, Javascript or Java or DHTML will be necessary.
