Is there anyway to use the user security I have defined on my project i.e.
login page so that when a field is updated or inserted into my table(s) the
user name variable is inserted.

For example I have used the sample project "portal" and migrated the data to
an SQL database. I have then defined my security in the project and created
a form to add/delete/insert records.

I would like it so that when the user clicks add the userid variable is
inserted against the record.

The simplest way is to fill in the Custom Update properties on the Record
control. Add an Expression for "userid" to use the CCGetUserID() function
and it will include that value in the UPDATE statement.
