Hi all, I'm giving a trial run of CodeCharge Studio, however, dispite of creating many simple projects, it always outputs: (Error:Invalid code generation template used with CodeCharge Studio Personal Edition.) I tried, ASP, ASP.NET/VB and several others, always the same error.

I run a development workstation networked to our production server (IIS) which I want ot use to publish my projects and test them there, but I can't, what should I use in the server URL/Path:

1. //$ServerName$/projdir
2. http://LanIP/projdir
3. http://InternetIP/projdir
4. http://domain/projdir

Or what?

Thank you.

"I run a development workstation networked to our production server (IIS) which I want ot use to publish my projects "

Use 2>www.whateverip/ProjDir

On CCS go to settings, browse the PHYSICAL PATH (c\inetpub\wwwroot\whatever...) then the URL must be (http://whateverip/Projdir/)

For ASP.NET you must CAREFULLY read the manual as there are files that get the .NET components somewhere on the folder you installed the CLR/.NET files.

Furthermore, you should convert the webfolders, subfolders to an application (Internet Service Manager) these are folders that has icon with blue box and something greenish on that icon.

Read the manual man it helps, really helps.

theScien,
This error indeed looks strange. Possibly re-installing CCS may help.
Could you also check which version of CCS this is, in Help -> About.
And I recommend contacting our support (link below) as they can provide a patch that will analyze what is happening.

I run CSS 2.2.2.40 Trial.

I uninstalled/installed again and the problem disappeared, finally managed to get an app running, the forum/asp even thou the mdb paths are wrong, I had to manually change the conn string to have the Server.MapPath("dbname.mdb").

Couldn't get any .NET app to work so far, default files run, but fields have the {value} definer in them, which I assumed it wasn't parsed correctly, it finds the Framework fine, but when running apps there's error after error, will persue the matter raised by ryan further to see if that solves the problem.

Also noted in .NET/VB DB sorting/paging are JavaScript based, same as WebMatrix, exactly that reason I abandoned it, most advanced users browse with JS disabled for a variety of reasons, and they will not be able to use applications that rely on it.

Will continue to use CSS to determine whether it is worth reaching deep in my pocket, my major problem at the moment is too many projects, very little time, so a solution like CSS would come in handy.

I had some familiar effects with installing and uninstalling different versions

Yes, it may be required to change the paths if CCS wasn't installed into the default directory.

Make sure that you run the .NET applications/pages with the extension .aspx instead of .html.
Or re-configure your server to serve .aspx first, then .html.

We do not purposely use JavaScript in sorting or paging. It is the standard behavior of .NET controls and such JavaScript is automatically inserted at run-time by the ASP.NET engine. If you want to abandon tools that utilize JavaScript, you might need to abandon .NET alltogether...
The .NET is actually providing better performance thanks to its use of JavaScript.
I can also say that JavaScript can be useful for a variety of business applications, for example you'd need JavaScript to implement client-based input mask (field formatting) as shown here: http://ex-unix.codecharge.com/temp/ExamplePack/InputMask/InputMask.php (Phone and SSN fields.)
Even such standard task as positining the cursor within the Login or Search field is achieved via JavaScript. For example if you go to Google.com, you will see that your cursor will not be positioned in the search field if your JavaScript is disabled.
