I have been tasked with building a query tool for our customers. The tool will have a database back end that contains descriptions of other tables and columns. The program should pull from these tables and allow a user to build a sql-syntax correct sql statement to run against the table described in the database. The customer wants one set of asp/html pages that works with multiple columns and tables.
anyone have any idea how to start on this using ccs? NOrmally a table is specified in the designer but the user has to be able to select columns to see and different columns to add criteria.
there is existing code that allows for the user to do this through cold fusion but we are getting away from CF and they would like a .net application.
any thoughts would be appreciated.

CCS is a visual software devdelopment tool like Visual Studio, Visual Basic, Oracle Forms, etc. However, you don't need a visual tool (or its visual capabilities) if you are building something dynamically since you cannot draw it. In such case you will need to write your own program that builds what you need. This may not be difficult if you utilize the standard although very basic .NET Data Grid, like described here: http://www.wimdows.net/articles/article.aspx?aid=6
You could probably use CCS to let users select the tables and colums for your program that will create the dynamic grid(s). Then post the form to the other page where you'd manually program your grid.
