I just submitted the following to CodeCharge Support, but I thought I would post it here also to see if anyone had any ideas.

I have a form that I created with a hidden field that gets the userID of the person who is signed on.

It is working, but not all the time. When I go to certain records, the CCGetUserID() does not show a valid userID (even though I am signed in). I cannot find a reason that it does not work in some records, but works in others (in the same form).

I am using CCS 2.2.3.60 (with a valid license), ASP 3.0 w/templates, IIS and Access 2000

ccgetuserID() is a simple function like 2+2=5 :p

its like imposible to fail if you doing all right!

if your project is small and you could compressed i will take a look!

how are you assigning the value to teh label?
the label is inside an object?
are you using before show?
are you using as a default value?

did you change any gray block text?

lot of question, so if you could zipped i will help you find what are you doing wrong!

Oper,
Thanks for the quick reply. My thinking is the same as yours (it shouldn't fail). But, it IS failing. It is very weird, because it works on some records, but not others. The way I found out is I unhid the hidden text field and saw nothing in it on a record that was not updating (I had the field required). Then I opened a different record and I saw my userID in the field, along with my userName in the other field (CCDLookUP).

I have it set as a hidden text box with the Default Value of CCGetUserID()

The project is pretty large, so maybe we will reserve that if I can't get an answer. I guess I could strip down everything but the grid and record, along with the MDB table and send it to you.......

Let me see what I can do.

Thanks,
Sean

Sean,

Rather than simply typing "Nevermind, I figured it out." It would nicer if you jotted down a few lines as to what the actual problem was and how you fixed it. This helps if someone else if searching the forum with the same problem actually get a complete answer rather than "Nevermind, I figured it out.".

If you post here and expect help, then repay forum with a little more than a one line.

It was nothing more than an oversight on my part. I forgot to remove the control source for the hidden field, so it was looking to the database for a value. If there wasn't a value, it would not display anything. Once I removed the control source, it populated every time, which allowed me to do my UPDATE after Execute Insert/Update.

I didn't mean to not answer the question, but I have been very busy and didn't have much time to write out a response. I guess it didn't take as long as I thought. :-O
