Hi. I just installed server 2k3 and I'm migrateing to .NET, but I've got a big problem. Anytime I create an application in asp.net or straight asp the site loads fine navigates and everything appears to work until I try to do anything that has to update the database. Then I get "Operation must use an updateable query". I never had this problem with IIS 5.1 so I can only assume it has something to do with IIS 6. Anyone have any ideas? I'm pretty much at a loss.

Now this also troubled me but the easiest way to get around this (especially on a development machine) is to just put the db in a sub directory under inetpub and grant securty r/w to everyone. I think that just some IUSR_machine and aspnet user need the rights but this at least got me working.

Only a comment that when using .NET you will need to assign the write permissions to the user "ASPNET".
Also, it is not recommended to place the database in the inetpub because then someone could download it...
Always keep the MS Access database outside of the Web server.
Also see our top article at http://support.codecharge.com/kb_search.asp
It is related to the same problem.
