I'll ask this again without all my whining BS. I'd like to create a page with links that link to detailed info., exactly like the list of employee names in the directory grid that links to a detail page with images etc.

I tried this:

Use Grid Builder to create your grid, then right click on one of the labels in the grid and select Change To -> Link. Then configure your link to link to point to the other page. (Thanks PeterR)

But that just seems to link to the page that displays all the info., not to an individual record.

The employee directory tutorial stops short of explaining this. I'd be happy to figure it out from the tutorial if further documentation exists.

Thanks

I'm not sure if the problem is with the link or with the record.
What is the URL shown when you click on the link?
Generally you need to configure the Href Source property of the link the same way as in most of our examples, including the Employee Directory. The record's key must be specified in there.

The URL seems to be right:

BlahBlah/Display_Article.asp?id=2

So the problem must be with the data, which is something I can probably figure out -- unless there are any suggestions.

Thanks!

On the record form page (display_article.asp), select the data tab in the properties window, then the form control in the project explorer, then the data source to open the query builder. In the "where" area you should see something like this id = {id}. If you don't then add it by clicking on the + button. If it is there, click on the properties button to verify that the fieldname, condition and parameter source, and type (URL) are set correctly.

Worked like a charm. I'm whippin' out the plastic -- SOLD! Paid for itself already.

This is a great product. Being obsesed with design, I got way ahead of myself with a custom style sheet, and page templates. Formatting is not a limitation of this product, if you know what your doing. I love it.

Thanks for your time.
