Hello folks,

I'm playing with a demo of CCS and am trying to emulate the real world situation at my ISP locally, so I can build apps at home before deployment.

I'm working on Tutorial 3 (Creating a Task Management System with the Application Builder) and would like to use my local mySQL database, but it appears that CCS cannot create this sample database for me (which is fine). I am happy to do this with myPHPadmin, however:

Is the SQL code for this first tutorial available anywhere? That would help a lot.

Many thanks, Lurch

Yes, this script is in the folder C:\Program Files\CodeChargeStudio\Examples\Intranet or equivalent, depending where you installed CodeCharge Studio.
The script/file name is Intranet_MySQL.sql.

Peterr,

One more obvious question: after populating the mySQL database with the above script (which worked fine), how can I setup CCS to "see" those tables, in order to complete the tutorial? If it doesn't need to see the live tables then how can I set it up otherwise?

Apologies in advance if these are exceedingly dumb questions but I really want to give CCS a spin! Thanks!

No problem, it's a good question.
On the step "Select Database Connection"
( http://docs.codecharge.com/studio/html/QuickStart/Creat...lectDBConn.html ) instead of selecting "Intranet Database" you would rather click on "Use a new database connection" and then select the ODBC connection to your MySQL as shown at http://docs.codecharge.com/studio/html/UserGuide/Workin...Connection.html

I believe that you will need to install an ODBC driver and create a DSN/ODBC connection in your Control Panel to connect to your database at design time. This method also allows to connect to remote MySQL database at your ISP.
The generated PHP programs won't need to use ODBC at run-time though.

Peterr,

Sorry I'm back, but at least I'm making progress...

Now I'm to Step 4 of 9 in the Configure Application Builder tutorial, have already created a connection to my local mySQL DB (when I use the test button it works), but now I'm getting an error "Loading field list: Unspecified Error". I realize that's not very specific but I'm hoping you've heard of this before.

Might as well ask this now, too: should I create a new database called, say, APPBUILDER, and move all the tables into that? This is what I've done, as it doesn't seem like a great idea to leave them all strewn about.

Many thanks for your help, I'm almost there!

This looks like very unusual error and I've never heard of it. You might want to contact our support at http://support.codecharge.com and email the screenshot that shows the error (after you submit a ticket you can click on a link that you can use to email attachments).
You could also try skiiping the Step 4 and see if you get similar error on Step 5.

Regarding the database, I am assuming that you used the SQL file to created tables in a single database. There should be no need to create another database unless you also have other unrelated tables in the database where you already loaded the script. In any case, creating a new database wouldn't hurt. It may even resolve your main problem in case something there indeed is mixed up.

Peterr,

Thanks, I'll contact your support department tomorrow. I'm guessing it's some tiny little thing because in this Step 4 I am able to see the tables that are in my DB, then get that error. I'm wondering if it's a permission issue. Anyhow, I'll keep trying...

Peterr,

I've sorted out the above problem (some odd OBDC thing) and now have the following: when I opt to Test the Page (pg 26 of tutorial) I am not presented a login box, and am also given a table without names, just numbers. For example, instead of Project Name it says Project_ID. In other words, it doesn't seem to be linking the descriptions to the keys. Any ideas? Thanks as always for your help.
