Stuck on Custom Coding Instructions in M2M Listboxes Example

Hello. I new to CSS with many years in C/C++ coding, but a relative novice to web development. I went through the initial tutorials without too much trouble. Now I am following the description for re-creating the example at

http://examples.codecharge.com/ExamplePack/ManyToManyLi...tboxes_desc.php

I am totally stuck on steps 16-18 that refer to "adding custom code" to client events "as shown in the example." I managed to find the respective code in the example files for these events, but I don't understand what they are doing exactly, let alone how to customize it for my web app. I also read the "coding notes" at the bottom of the page, but that served to confuse me more than it helped. I would appreciate discussing what these events are doing. A phone call with tech support person would be great, but if a detailed walk through is already written-up somewhere, that would be cool as well. Of course, if nothing is written already that is more specific, I would be happy to have someone correspond with me via email, though a phone call would probably be more expedient for both of us.

Thanks,
Ben
