CCS's datepicker is _great_ tool! Although I wish CCS had a way to fill form fields using a popup list populated by a database. Yes I know about dropdown lists populated by a table/view. But, if you have a thousand or more values, then all of them get sent in the html page that takes forever to download.

How about creating a popup on demand through a link next to the form field that alows the user to get a narrowed down list based on a query string like %foobar% and then it gives you a lisf to choose from that will in turn populate the original form field?

Can this be done now?

CCS comes with a pop-up list example in CCS Example Pack. It's also live at http://examples.codecharge.com/ExamplePack/PopUpList/PopUpList.php
Hopefully this is what you're loking for.

The steps to create this are long and time consuming. How about creating an object that we can link in? Include it in 2.3.1?

I'm not aware of such plans at this time.
But I suspect that creating such object would be no different from the example. The Grid on the pop-up/2nd page is in fact such an object. Possibly couple things could be simplified but the result could be less flexible and therefore less usable.
The current example is actually quite simple and could be implemented in less than 5 minutes. It's only important to understand that the pop-up page is just the standard search+grid that returns the selected value back to the 1st/parent page.
