I am attempting the quickstart task list tutorial and whenever I perform step 2 "Test the Page" I get the following:
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Circular reference caused by alias 'project_name' in query definition's SELECT list. (Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers). I am attempting the tutorial using an ODBC DNS string setup on my virtual host that I have filled in the connection type. My web address that generates the error is as follows: http://www.walcoaip.com/walcointranet/tasks_list.asp. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I couldn't repeat this problem.
Did you maybe manually modify the query (Data Source) associated with the "tasks" grid?

That's pretty creepy...I was just getting ready to make a virtually identical post.
In my case, I'm generating the first sample from the Quick Start Tutorial to a perl project. It seems to generate everything okay, but I wasn't getting anything but a 500-level error in the browser:
http://edit-www.ket.org/cgi-bin/test_cc/tasks_list.pl
I ran the script from the command line on the server (Windows 2000 Server / iPlanet / ActiveState Perl 5.6.1 build 638), and got the following error:
DBI connect('CCSIntranet','',...) failed: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data
source name not found and no default driver specified (SQL-IM002)(DBD: db_login/
SQLConnect err=-1) at D:\ket\cgi-bin\test_cc\tasks_list.pl line 541
So I copied the intranet.mdb file over to the server and created a system DSN named CCSIntranet on that machine matching the one the installer created on my own computer. (I never saw *any* mention of that in the CCS docs...am I just missing something?)
So I'm still getting a 500 error in the browser. Running from the command line, I now get:
D:\ket\cgi-bin\test_cc>tasks_list.pl
DBD::ODBC::st execute failed: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Circular
reference caused by alias 'project_name' in query definition's SELECT list. (SQ
L-HY000)(DBD: st_execute/SQLExecute err=-1) at D:/ket/cgi-bin/test_cc/./Common.p
m line 1979.
Describe failed during DBI::st=HASH(0x2401b3c)->FETCH(NAME) at D:/ket/cgi-bin/te
st_cc/./Common.pm line 1988.
D:\ket\cgi-bin\test_cc>
I'm stumped at this point. Surely the sample project in the tutorial should work right out of the box? I don't mean to sound snide...in fact I am extremely eager to demonstrate that CCS does all it appears to. Once I get there, I'm sure I'll purchase the product and use it daily.

David,
You're right. I now could repeat this error. The previous post talked about using ODBC DSN and this error doesn't happen when using ODBC during design, but it does happen when using the JET connection (standard for MS Access).
Please contact the support and we'll provide you with a patch.

Hi again,
Below is a temporary, manual solution to this issue, which requires removing the field alias names from the query:
(please reload/refresh this page to restart the demo from the beginning)

Dave,
To see actual errors in IE: Click the Tools menu, select Internet Options,
switch to the Advanced tab, uncheck the "Show friendly HTTP error messages"
option.

Sixto
