asp & php together

Hi,
on some web sites I see php & asp pages and my question is:
if I have IIS, can my sessions vars be used for php & asp?

The reason for mixing both is that I have to use some asp components for one project but some other things are much easier to do in php + I'm using MySql.

What are pros & cons?
