Would it be possible to have a moderated "Tips From The Field" forum set up at the top-level of CodeCharge forums?

I am learning a tremendous amount about the guts of CCS and would like to share the 30-second instructions on little things (i.e. "How have your own custom Date formats show up in the CCS Interface"). I have found the instructions on how to do such task-oriented things difficult to access if they exist at all, and a bullet-list of quick answers in a Tips forum might answer many questions.

The difference between a Tips forum and other forums would be that it is for tips, period, end of story, so there is no sifting through questions, discussions, duplicate threads, flames, etc... just TESTED TIPS, end of story.

What comes to mind is the "USer-Contributed Comments" section of the PHP documentation system, where users have added comments and tips to the bottom of each function's instructions... this is a VERY helpful format because it's extremely context-specific, no searching is needed, and the content is not diluted with dupes/RTFM questions/unrelated discussion threads. See: http://us2.php.net/function.mysql-query for a sense.

Who knows, maybe Yes could even hire a tech writer to sit on top of the tips, sort them into chapters, and publish a basic and advanced book. :-D

Anyone have any opinion on this? Do you feel it would be redundant, or is there some value in having a clean, best-of-tips kind of forum?

I agree, it would be very nice for newbie like myself to learn CCS, nothing beat the tips from the fields. I hope it gets approved and soon :-).

Me TOO! The CCS Documentation is a little light and the tool is so flexible that a "How to" from experiance would be of great benefit. ;-)

DataObjx has created a CCS members area where you can post Tips & Tricks, share project files and so forth.

Anyone wanting to view or post tips & tricks, project files, etc can do so on DataObjx. Simply Register and you can begin.

The site is being upgraded over the next couple of weeks in anticipation of our launch of CCS Developer Magazine, due for release in August. The first issue will be free to registered members.

We apologize for the lack of "Eye Candy" when you first hit the site, we had planned on waiting until the release of the first issue of the magazine, but much of the functionality is in place so there's no reason the site cannot be utilized by the CCS Community. Having said that, there will be steady improvements during the next few weeks, so visit often.

We look forward to seeing you on-line.

Best Regards

Excellent initiative! I've registered and will follow the development with great interest. Will the CCS Developer Magazine be a printed paper product?

The growing number of sites concerning CCS is an indication of the maturity of this excellent product.

Has anyone noticed the new forum on this very site http://forums.codecharge.com/forum.php?forum_id=25

as is DonB's Code Charge By The Hour site
http://www.gotodon.com/ccbth/Default.asp

We at rexdesign also welcome tips and anyone wishing to submit tutorials can contact me at
http://ccs.ath.cx/bb/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=2
-Editors can upload zipped CCS project files
-DevTeam have FTP access to publish CCS projects

Those wishing to submit Tips and Tricks for Code Charge Studio can simply do so at
http://ccs.ath.cx/bb/viewforum.php?f=15
(Open to all registered members)

Welcome

The magazine will be in .PDF format initially. This makes it available to everyone.

Once the number of subscribers increases the intention is to produce the printed version of the magazine.

I also forgot to mention that DataObjx will also have a "CCS Marketplace" where developers can sell their advanced projects.

We appreciate the support of YesSoftware and the CCS Community with regard to this initiative.
