OK,

Straight forward question, the front page of the web page proudly claims new version 2.3, yet the news and updates pages (6/Jun/04) states 2.3 is currently beta. Well.... whats the go with 2.3, I don't want to install 2.3 if it's not rock solid as I have too many projects on the go in 2.2.3.60.

Looking forward to your replay Peter.

PS: I have asked this question in a public forum, rather than raising a support case, as I'm sure the answer will benefit others.

Hi,

Version 2.3 is currently in Beta phase for existing CCS 2.2 (and earlier versions) users. We hope to have it finalized this week, though I cannot guarantee it.

We were expecting questions like yours, therefore the update page at http://support.codecharge.com/updates.asp states:
Quote :
Note: as we do not expect any impact on new CodeCharge Studio users, the new version 2.3 is already available to new customers and replaces the previous version 2.2 on our default download Website...

Sorry, but in my opinion 2.3 is very very beta if not alpha in some
functions,

try to make a radiobutton list that writes 1 of 3 values in a tablefield
you will come across horror problems and errors (colum specified twice and such )
there are MUCH other things i came accros using CCS that prevent me from working effective.

whatever, i switch to another tool and i look at CCS in 1 or 2 years again, because i see potential of it, but for now its unusable
for critical bussiness solutions where you have a deadline for example, because you cannot count on CCS 100%

this is MY personal opinion, if you say "CCS rules" so use it!!!
i cant...

Karsten,

I'm sorry you didn't find CodeCharge Studio stable.
I recommend that you try our FrontPage Add-In, or use Dreamweaver to edit CCS pages if you do a lot of visual Web design. Unfortunately our visual Web editor is very basic, and we do not intend to compete with professional Web design tools. The main strength of CCS is in automation of the application creation and code generation.
I do my application design in CCS, however I occasionally switch to MS FrontPage when I need to make a lot of Web design changes, manipulate tables, etc.

Well, the finalized version 2.3 has just been released:

Karsten,
do you mind sharing with us the name of "another tool" that you are using instead of CCS?
I always wanted to find at least one thing that you can count 100% on...

Java problem with this final release, see:

http://forums.codecharge.com/posts.php?post_id=50462

Basically, no "Programmatically Control Field's Value" due to change in Control.java code. The fix is shown but perhaps await CCS fix?
