Ok, hope this is not too stupid a question but what I am looking to do is validate information from one server from a database hosted on another.
Example, someone installs a program I create on their server, to stop file sharing, I want to validate the program by having it connect to my registerd users database located on my server. The program will pass a validation variable to my server/database and if it matches, the program will work, if not, the program will fail.
Does that make sense?
Can this be done with straight ASP? I mean Microsoft does it when installing windows, as does a few other PC based programs, including Code Charge. But not sure how to make the connection.
