I posted to the General section, but someone suggested I post here, too.

I am evaluating CCS for .NET Web App development, and I'm so far very impressed. My background - experienced developer, experienced with .NET for WinForms apps, less experienced with Web App development. Any tool that can help me focus on the core of the business function instead of the mechanics of web apps - is my friend.

How long have you been using CCS for .NET? Is it a much better path than just developing straight from Visual Studio? Is the code from the builder reliable and reasonable to read? If you built a huge app, and CCS disappeared from the planet, would you be able to take it over from Visual Studio? Anything else you want to tell me about this thing? Thank you.

Used CCS for nearly a year on .net apps.
Love it more than VS to get up and running quickly.
The generated code is right on and easy to read and where I steal ideas for other projects on how they solved issues
I do go into VS when doing custom coding on CCS triggers and that works great.
I try very hard to stay within CCS for my apps so I can easily use its builders. If Yes software vanished, you have all the generated code to move your project forward using VS or even notepad.
Go for it

I'm pretty close to sold. But I sure would feel more comfortable if there were more online discussion groups. Are there others out there besides this one? Thanks.

Hmm, just as an experiment I tried to find Dreamweaver forums at http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=dreamweaver+forum , but haven't found anything except one French and couple low-traffic forums, while most other roads are going back to the main Macromedia forums. Usenet forum search http://groups-beta.google.com/groups/dir?q=dreamweaver&sel=33554433 also shows only the official Macromedia newsgroups.
No offense, it sure would be nice to see other forums, but would you try to sell an item on several auction sites, while knowing that you will sell it only on eBay?

No offense taken, Peter. But, the quantity of dialog is one - arguable - indicator of the momentum behind a product and the likelihood of it remaining in the universe.
But, until I crash into a mind-changing brick wall, I'm sold. I worked with it for several more hours today, and the power and value are obvious. Tomorrow, I'll start building, and we'll see how it goes.

I'm glad I found the product.

Frank

I've been using the personal .NET version for two projects and found that CCS .NET user's group is small so trying to get an answer on how to do thing is hard, I have to rely on the CCS support which in most cases was able to get back to me with work around or steps on how to accomplish my tasks, but you have to wait sometimes a day or two to get your answers back. vs ASP or PHP there are lots of users out there which can help you right away in hours via this forum.

It is best to stay with CCS development enviroment vs going back and forth between VS and CCS, as VS may break the codes and so is your project created in CCS. If you do try to backup your project regularly number the version just in case you need to go back in time when thing goes nuts.

Today Yes software announced the latest .0 currently in beta test, based on the animated screen show of the new features I can't wait to get my hand on it since it seems to have much more features like Reporting, auto code complete, etc...

Is CCS the best out there? may be not but for the price and the time it saves to get a simple application up and running comparing to VS it is worth a try. Before you buy it try the demo version. Good luck!

I use CCS for .NET(VB) development in a small corporate environment. I can't imagine using anything else. CCS saves too much time. Period. Once you get a feel for CCS and how to design your database to work optimally with it, it's just too fast to develop with.

CCS takes some learning and I'm still finding things it does that I haven't taken advantage of yet (like DBUtility.UserID).

I've looked at everything and nothing even comes close to rapidly developing apps like CCS.

The newest version is very stable and you will not, repeat, WILL NOT find a support staff like Yes Software has. That's probably the biggest reason you don't see a lot of posts here because I go to them first. They are fast and know their stuff.

I own Visual Studio, Dreamweaver, and Code Charge and for web development Code Charge is the only one I'm in every single day. I also write some desktop apps, so I use VS for syntax lookups etc. but my development is in CCS.

I am in the dark until found CSS for web development, try out everything since year 2000, VS, Dream-on-Weaver, VS, but CSS is simply the best, but only one thing left out by CSS, database development.
