Took the past week to learn CCS. So far, the results are mixed.

On the plus side, the code appears to work well with SQL server and the broad design tools seem good.

On the minus side, I am having almost -zero- luck understanding how to do even the most simple things using Events with ASP (like dynamically changing Return Page or why certain variables and objects are sometimes out of scope.)

Granted, I am new to ASP, but OTOH I have programmed in C for 20 years and used many IDEs and it sure seems like either:
a) I took a stupid pill this week
b) Some of the Codecharge examples simply don't work
c) There is a real paradigm problem here.

So: Any suggestions on how to jumpstart the process would be MOST appreciated. Though I'm not in trouble -yet-, I need to see some progress on the ASP side PDQ.

TIA ;)

Suntower? Sounds familiar. Were you using Clarion WebBuilder?

I am too. Do you mind emailing me? I don't see a valid email for you in
your posting.

Hi,

What's up Leroy and Suntower? Since we all came from the same paradigm
(Clarion) let me step in and help a bit. You are looking at a very
different paradigm and a bit of a learning curve. The only way I could
figure this out was to read newsgroups, study code, look at suggestions,
etc. It takes a while to figure out exactly how the code is constructed.
YesSoftware gives you plenty of "how to's" but is a bit lacking in giving
you an complete overview of understanding the jigsaw puzzle.

Regards,

Shawn Mason

Well, then it's quite a -bit- like Clarion, isn't it? ;)

Thanks for writing.

Hi Shawn,

Thanks for the comments Shawn. I've all but decided to jump into CodeCharge
soon. It's good to find out Clarion developers making that same transition.
