You will need to code that manually.

I don't understand why would you expect that there is a tutorial for this. Possibly you wanted to ask if there is a tutorial for this? The answer is no, however I'm sure you can find some PHP code on Google.
If you have problems with your custom code feel free to ask specific questions about this and provide enough details for others to be able to help you.

Well thanks peterr as far as searching for code on google I dont need to do that ill just scrap ccs and go back to hand coding its more reliable instead of guessing where values and varibales are so at this point There is no need for me to upgrade.

Ah, now I understand why you asked where is a tutorial, rather than if there is a tutorial - trick question, huh?
Not a problem though, good luck and I hope you'll reconsider - feel free to come back at any time.

Before scrapping CCS, I'd suggest giving it a another try.
I've done alot of handcoding as you have done, and in some cases
you really can't get around doing it. However, CCS is so flexible that
with some trial and error you can get things working just like you
expect.
However, I can now see that what want to do can be done in CCS
- with a bit of hand-coding within certain events.
The event you want to use to send the email confirmation to a newly
registered member would be 'After Insert' - after inserting the customer
record.
The event you want to use to confirm registration would be
'On Initialize View' - before showing page contents.
