 Can't Refer To Link Variables In HEADER file <grrr>

OK. I have a HEADER file with menu links.

I want to be able to add a parameter to one of them on the server side in the HEADER.ASP in the Before Show(Server) embed for the link (which is named Contacts_Maint.)

Contacts_Maint.Parameters = CCAddParam(Contacts_Maint.Parameters, "ret_link", "1")


But when I load the code in the browser I always get a VBScript error saying that the variable Contacts_Maint does not exist. Why, pray tell?

Shouldn't it be within it's own scope regardless of the page it is included with?
