Hi Yes Software,
I usually use an offline news reader for reading news from these groups - I
find it much easier to search using my reader.
While I mostly read these groups every day, occasionally I am away or too
busy for periods of a couple of weeks. The NEWS server only appears to let
me download messages that have been posted in the last couple of days - so I
miss chunks of messages. Is this a server setting that can be changed?

I knew it... after much looking thru my reader and being positive I had
checked everything at my end... I posted the message below. 5 minutes later
I manage to find the missing headers....

Not a problem.
Just in case, in my newsreader (Outlook Express) there is an option for the number of haders to be downloaded at a time (300). Possibly you have similar settings that you can adjust as well.
