Mutli-Select Search Sample Confusing.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but the multi-select list box sample has go me stumped. I complete all the step in the sample but I not sure about the SQL the "in" statement. How shoul the sql statement work?

SELECT *
FROM company
WHERE (( Trade LIKE '%{s_keyword}%'
OR SpecSection LIKE '%{s_keyword}%' ))
AND Udf_AreaCode = '{s_areaCode}'
ORDER BY Name
