It would be nice if the messages window could be set to auto-clear after a certain amount of time had expired or, have NEW messages caused by publishing activities show in a different colour or bold like e-mail that hasn't been read yet.

If at the end of Publishing process a sound event could occur - that would be great feature.

If you didn't discover it, a right-click has a clear function on the popup
menu. Not automatic, but you can clear the buffer at least.

yes, know that one.

what i was looking for is something that visually/audibly lets you know that the software managed to compile/publish. knowing how long ago that was is handy too 'cause sometimes i'm thinking while I press CTRL-F8 and don't always recall if I just DID hit CTRL-F8 - then looking at the messages doesn't tell me how recently I did the compile.

so an auto-clear after 'x' minutes or a 'clear before publish' or something would be handy.

Yeah, I know. I wish the publish function provided something similar to the
'Transfer Manager" and "Synchronize" functions in WS_FTP (from
ipswitch.com). It's much easier to see what's going on, how far and how
long the publish has run.

Since the 'publish' is an FTP operation (can't see where there's more to it
than that once the new pages are built), just being able to integrate a 3rd
party FTP into CCS would be really nice.
