This doesn't seem to be working for things like the buttons on a record form, e.g. "Insert" or "Cancel" or the "Insert" link at the bottom of a grid. Things like Login and error messages are correct so I must be selecting the language correctly. Tried it in Portuguese and French and it is the same.

Neil,
if you man site translation for existing site the translation will be applied to newly added pages and forms. The existing ones won't be translated.
So you better select site translation when you start to create site.

Nicole - might be an idea for the CC Help to say that somewhere? I have now designed the site!!

This really should be a "per project" setting that can be re-applied as required. In my situation, I am designing a Portuguese site and it is far easier for me to design and test it in English (my native language). Once I am happy with it, I want to translate all the user interfaces. In any case, I may well want to "port" the design to other languages and it is absurd to have to start from scratch each time. I think this facility needs a rethink...
