Hi,
I have a logoff button in a webpage, when i click the button, it takes to another page.

The new page has close button, when i click the button it calls the windows build in function close() and gives the alert do u want to close or not.

This message should not appear because, if u choose no, the window does not close and i can also go back to the previous screen by clicking back.

How to overcome this?

regards,
sameer.

I'm not sure why do you click the close button instead of closing your Web browser. Possibly you could remove the close button to not confuse the users.
