I also am wondering if anyone has had success with Subversion and CCS3 Source Control?

There is mention of it in the users guide, but not any clear examples of how to get it setup and running.. anybody have some hints?

To get any (except CVS) Source Control repository working with CCS3 you need to have special SCC API Provider installed. This is Microsoft's unified API for accessing Source Control applications. Most commercial products implement it (like SourceOffSite, Visual Source Safe). In case of Subversion you need to look for third-party solutions. There are several projects initiated to implement SCC API for SVN, most of which are either stalled or under development.

I was able to make Subversion working with CCS3 using PuskOK's SCC API provider:

http://www.pushok.com/soft_svn.php

The bad news is that this is not a free product. Hopefully soon some free products will be available as well:

http://nidaros.homedns.org/subway/
http://chmsubscc.tigris.org/
http://www.sourcecross.org/projects/index.php

After installing any SCC API provider application you will get new option available in your Provider: combo box in CCS3 configuration.

CVS is implemented as a plugin, any one knows the API that should be implemented in order to write such plugin ?

In fact CVS support is built-in. Any other Source Control providers may be implemented using SCC API. Unfortunetaly API documentation is available from Microsoft only after signing NDA.

I used CCS3 with SubVersion via PushOK like mentioned above. I'm not sure if CCS supports any source control systems directly and you may need an SCC provider in any case.

Aaron,
Yes, not many products probably can support all various source control systems and therefore SCC Providers are used. SCC Provider is a bridge between source control systems and other tools and IDEs that take advantage of it.
We felt that possibly Subversion should be removed from the documentation as an example of source control system since it turned out that they don't directly support 3rd party integration and require another commercial 3rd party product. But CCS supports any source control systems that offer SCC Providers.
Sorry about the miscommunication. Since you already seen this forum thread I'm assuming that you understood that you may need to use PushOK like others, or try any other SCC Providers: http://www.google.com/search?q=Subversion+SCC+Provider
