It would be great if we would have the ability to modify the behaviors of
the standard code without losing the ability for the code to be maintained.
This could be accomplished, I believe, in a relatively simple manner.
On each functio, subroutine, class method, stc., we cuold have 3 "embed"
points. These would be "whitespaces" immediately before the data
declarations and immediately before and after the code sections.
This will allow us to add data declarations as wel as add code before or
after the generated code. By adding code before the generated code, we
could technically copy the generated code block, modify it, and exit the
code block before execution of the generated code. This way we would still
have the generated code as a reference in the event code generation changes.
By giving us an embed point after the generated code and before returning or
exiting the code object, we could still add behaviors (such as checking the
return values of stiored procedures, etc.).
I think a change such as this would be a huge improvement.
