hello,

is the following correct?

in report builder, i have an option to have a printable version link but no alternate row colors? but in grid builder, i am able to do alternate row colors but don't have a printable version link option? what exactly is the differece between grid builder and report builder? they look almost the same except for the above two things and i guess report builder also has the options to create grouping totals, etc and grid builder doesn't?

Hi,

In my opinion your interpretation looks valid, though I think that the full answer may depend on someone's point of view and their needs. If you only need a grid then there is not much difference. But if you work in corporate environment where dozens of enterprise users ask for new reports every week then you may see that reports can be 20 times more useful and sometimes as many times more complex than grids.
The groupings, totals and auto-calculations make a big a difference and some companies sell similar reporting tools as separate products.
CCS just makes everything look so easy and simple that you may not see much difference between any of the builders, and that is the goal :-)
