It appears the IDE in version 3 is crashing now and then while coding directly in de files (ADD ACTION). This happens very often after typing ( .
Seems the internal function call is crashing the software and of course you loose all code not saved at this moment. In larger project the software needs a lot of the CPU and now and then it's safe to restart the software due to memory leaks.

Hi Gerrit,
only for curiosity, which scripting language you are using?

I also noticed the same problem. Usually, in events builder i.e. Before Insert or Before Update as soon you type formname.fieldname.
CCS crashes... You have to re-start again... and if you did not save your code... boy you're out of luck!

I#ve had the same problem when writing in the generated asp file, not the
event file. It happens when writing a dot(.) for example respose.write.
I copied the ccs file with a seperate name, deleted the origin and copied
back.
That fixed the problem for me.

I'm getting the same behaviour - MANY IDE crashes and almost always triggered by typing code when placing a dot after the name of a variable that is a recognised object, or after a recognised function such as Response. There is a pause where, presumably CCS is looking up the object structure in order to prompt with the popup list of methods/properties, and then a crash. I always send the crash dump to Microsoft so I hope that these are being forwarded to CCS.
It's really annoying and has caused me to have to retype lots of code.
Please fix this ASAP
CCS 3, ASP, (VB) SQL 2000. Win XP SP2 4GB RAM AMD 6800+

Forgot to mention a few other small things:
a) It's intermittent
b) The longer you have been running CCS, the more likely it is to occur
c) There is quite a long pause after typing the dot and the crash occuring (15 to 20 seconds on a v.fast system - twin core AMD 6800+) . This is accompanied by some disk activity (could be the Windows crash system I s'pose but i don't get this delay when other programs crash). Whenever I type a dot and there is a delay, I know it's going to crash.
Control-S has almost been worn away on my keyboard - I'm developing using a new technique - you've heard of XP - "Extreme Programming" - welcome to the world of PP - "Paranoid Programming".
It's a shame - this puts the dampener on my enthusiasm for what is otherwise an excellent product.

Seen this behaviour too.
Switched off AutoCompletion.
My (humble) conclusion: if AutoComplete is on it reacts on dots and dollar
signs, if you have changed any source (and we are editing so we did change
something) it does a generate, that's where the time goes.

Confirm. Every time I type "." in code editor, I'm hoping IDE won't crash.

My ide is consistently crashing on connection builder as well as on tools-->options. Looks like a javascript issue and may have to do something with ie security/script permissions. Any ideas??

The 2nd post above is right on.
This is not a support forum and I'm even concerned that posting technical issues here may discourage others from submitting problems to the support to get them resolved.
I can only confirm that this looks like a bug based on the above posts.
