Somehow I manage too miss the messages about the updates :(

--- begin complaint ----

1. The updates are NOT listed on the support site (under bulletins/updates)!
2. CC's 'Check for updates' menu option does NOT find it either! We were fooled by this into not going searching for it. If you aren't going to maintain it, don't put it there (especially for something like this)

Amazingly bad. This is the text I get :
10/15/2001
Version 2.0.1 update available (bug fix)
http://codecharge.com/updates/cc2_0_1.html

We run a 2 copies here, one of regular and one of the 'pro' version, and usually try to keep up to date. It would be extremely nice to see this type of update information posted in the *official* channels. I should not have to come to the forum and search for 2.0.4 to find out if it's out or not, and then wade through posts to find the link.

Basically, I would like to see a litte better communication about the state of CC on both the support sites (through a link to a versions.txt) and inside of CC. I don't expect too much, just something like a 'known issues' page that is simple and a histor of patches. Also, a nice and *up to date* listing of released patches/upgrades would be nice to see somewhere on the official site.

--- end complaint ---

Btw, thanks for the support site (with pro). Works well enough for our simple things. It is a major PITA to move it to SQL server for some reason, though.

A lot of companies will e-mail their users about the availability of a new
release and will even embed the download hyperlink in the email message.

Perhaps YesSoftware could implement it. It is certainly easy enough to do with
a database of email addresses.

I agree. This is something that is intolerable. I don't know why they bother having a support.codecharge.com since nothing there is ever updated. The last version listed on the Bulletins and updates is 10/15/01 5:56:00 AM >> CodeCharge 2.0 Released . Does every know what the current version is? Are you sure? etc...

Personally I would like to add to the complaint.. I think the support is actually not very good, since the point should not be just that they respond to questions. The support should be about building a structured knowledge base that helps answers questions (like what is the most recent version) before having to ask someone. The sites support.codecharge.com as well as gotocode.com both look very immature and underdeveloped. As though codecharge team put them up as examples then decided they were good enough.

For instance some obvious enhancements:

1. Attach Files in support system directly (none of this email junk)
2. Automate and create a reminder system (if this is still like the demo of the support version it is relying on someone actually checking and following up on questions)
3. on Gotocode.. the searches should be better.. maybe go ahead and get a third party search and implement.. (have you ever tried putting two words in the search?!)
4. Organize responses in to knowledgebase faqs

Hire someone to update these sites.. it's the codecharge face to the world and it looks very immature. grr.

I could say more but I am done ranting for now.Sorry.

I have to agree. I have been using CC now, for I guess a little over a year, and the support has gone way down. Every time I send a request in, it takes sometimes 24 hours to get a responce, and then, it takes some tiems 2 or 3 days to get a solution to the issue.

Also, when I purchased the PRO version over a year ago, I was told they were coming out with a PRO version in a few months. Still nothing. Sort of like paying for the tour, and get a cheap ride..

Other than my few management complaints, I like the product. I won't stop using it, but I as well as others expect it to get better.

Thanks all for your help on my issues, and I hope I can help you on yours.

And thanks Alex for the support and help.
