Whenever I create a client side onclick event with a javascript function and I want to get a control name it creates the VB.NET code but then I get the error:

"The server tag is not well formed"

My onclick in html looks like this: onclick = "openPopup('{control_name}')"

The .aspx generated version: onclick="<%'openPopup(" + PageVariables.Get("contol_name") + ")'%>"

All I am trying to do is get the current controlname from a editable grid.

Please help!!!
